USA Hockey Code of Conduct
USA Hockey Zero Tolerance Policy
Yale Youth Hockey Code of Conduct
The Yale Youth Hockey Association Board of Directors or a Disciplinary Committee appointed by the Board of Directors will address violations of the USA Hockey Code of Conduct, USA Hockey Zero Tolerance Policy and Yale Youth Hockey Code of Conduct.
Player, Coach, Parent/Legal Guardian and/or other individuals, issues may be addressed by the Yale Youth Hockey Association Disciplinary Committee appointed by the President or Board of Directors. Violations of the USA Hockey Code of Conduct, USA Hockey Zero Tolerance Policy, and/or Yale Youth Hockey Association Code of Conduct or Complaints may be reported in writing via email only to the Board of Directors. Request, Complete and Send the Yale Youth Hockey Association Complaint Form via: CharlesAndriole@charlesandriole.com. The Yale Youth Hockey Association Disciplinary Committee may conduct a Disciplinary Hearing requiring the individual(s) to appear before them at a Disciplinary Hearing, in writing via letter or email from the Yale Youth Hockey Association. If the individual(s) refuse to appear at the Disciplinary Hearing, they may be disciplined immediately. The Disciplinary Committee may suspend an individual from participating/attending Yale Youth Hockey Practices, Games, Sessions or Events, for a specified period of time, or they may be expelled. The Ruling will be communicated in writing via letter or email. Appeals of the Disciplinary Committee decision must be pursued via the Connecticut Hockey Conference.

Yale Youth Hockey Association
Code of Conduct
Players, Coaches, Parents and other Individuals are to conduct themselves in a manner that demonstrates respect to other players, coaches, officials, parents, and spectators. As a member of the Yale Youth Hockey Association, an individual assumes certain obligations and responsibilities to the organization and its participants. Honesty, Integrity and Sportsmanship are the essential principles of the Yale Youth Hockey Code of Conduct. Those who conduct themselves in a manner that reflects these elements will bring credit to themselves, their team and our organization. Only through such conduct, will our organization continue to earn and maintain a positive reputation and make meaningful contributions to youth hockey, youth sports and our community.
The Yale Youth Hockey Association will not tolerate racial or ethnic slurs or intimidation / threats among Yale Youth Hockey Team Members/Players and Coaches, other Yale Youth Hockey Team Members/Players and Coaches, Opponent Team Members/Players and Coaches, Referees or any other Individual or Group while representing the Yale Youth Hockey Association.
Players
Fair Play – Respect
1. I will play hockey because I want to, not because others or coaches want me to.
2. I will play by the rules of hockey and in the “Spirit of the Game.”
3. I will control my temper because I understand that fighting or “mouthing-off” can spoil the activity for everybody.
4. I will respect my opponents and their fans.
5. I will do my best to be a true team player. I will encourage good team play.
6. I will remember that winning isn’t everything and that having fun, improving skills, making friends and doing my best are also important.
7. I will remember that coaches and officials are there to help me. I will accept their decisions and show them respect.
8. I realize that school will take precedence over hockey.
9. I will not use vulgar or profane language, racial, ethnic or gender-related slurs toward teammates, coaches, officials, opponents or spectators.
10. I will refrain from banging my stick, trash-talking and hot-dogging during the course of a game.
11. I will behave and hold myself accountable at all times when representing my team in all public places, especially when traveling during away games.
12. I will respect my coach’s decisions regarding instructions, ice time, practice, etc.
13. I will have FUN, but not waste valuable practice time and instruction time before and after games.
14. I will respect others’ property and belongings and the facility in which I play. I will leave the locker room in orderly condition.
15. I agree that alcohol, tobacco products and banned substances have NO PLACE in HOCKEY!!
16. I agree not to endanger or create any safety hazards by throwing any objects haphazardly on or outside the playing surface or bench area.
17. I agree that there is no place for violent or overly aggressive play in hockey, where the obvious intent is to injure or harm another player.
18. I agree to do my best in all my endeavors on and off the ice and to conduct myself with class and dignity.
Parent / Guardian
Interscholastic and youth sports programs play an important role in promoting the physical, social and emotional development of children. It is therefore essential for parents, coaches and officials to encourage youth athletes to embrace the values of good sportsmanship. Moreover, adults involved in youth sports events should be models of good sportsmanship and should lead by example by demonstrating fairness, respect and self control.
I therefore pledge to be responsible for my words and actions while attending, coaching, officiating or participating in a youth sports event and shall conform my behavior to the following code of conduct:
- I will not engage in unsportsmanlike conduct with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
- I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in unsportsmanlike conduct with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
- I will not engage in any behavior which would endanger the health, safety or well being of any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
- I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in any behavior which would endanger the health, safety or well being of any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
- I will not use drugs or alcohol while at a youth sports event and will not attend, coach, officiate or participate in a youth sports event while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- I will not permit my child, or encourage any other person, to use drugs or alcohol at a youth sports event and will not permit my child, or encourage any other person, to attend, coach, officiate or participate in a youth sports event while under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
- I will not engage in the use of profanity.
- I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in the use of profanity.
- I will treat any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee with respect regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or ability.
- I will encourage my child to treat any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee with respect regardless of race, creed, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation or ability.
- will not engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
- I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to engage in verbal or physical threats or abuse aimed at any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
- I will not initiate a fight or scuffle with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
- I will not encourage my child, or any other person, to initiate a fight or scuffle with any coach, parent, player, participant, official or any other attendee.
I hereby agree that if I fail to conform my conduct to the foregoing while attending, coaching, officiating or participating in a youth sports event I will be subject to disciplinary action, including but not limited to the following in any order or combination:
- Verbal warning issued by a league, organization or school official.
- Written warning issued by a league, organization or school official.
- Suspension or immediate ejection from a youth sports event issued by a league, organization or school official who is authorized to issue such suspension or ejection by a school board or youth sports organization.
- Suspension from multiple youth sports events issued by a league, organization or school official who is authorized to issue such suspension by a school board or youth sports organization.
- Season suspension or multiple season suspension issued by a school board or youth sports organization.
